The first sod cutRedevelopment

The land on which the community centre sits is to be redeveloped.

The site on Bradpole Road consists of 3 buildings, the old Strouden library, the scout hut and the community centre. These buildings are very old and in need of development.

The library moved over to Castle point in 2003, and the decision was made to redevelop the site. Some years later and with consultation with the community it was proposed that on the Bradpole Road site a new community centre would be built along with 9 affordable homes.

The old main hall in Strouden Community CentrePlanning permission for this development was granted in January 2011 and the development is due to start week beginning 28th March 2011.

The centre will close on Sunday 27th March. All the current groups who meet at the community centre will meet in different location. (Please look at the section on Groups).

The whole project is expected to take one year to complete.

There will be regular updates on this website on how the project is progressing with photos.

For information on the Contractors and if you have any issues during the redevelopment, please find details in the Contractors brochure (pdf format).
