Muscliff Community Centre

Muscliff Community Centre is a small modern, well kept centre which opened 1990. It is located in the beautiful setting of Muscliff Park on the northern edge of the large conurbation of Bournemouth.Muscliff fields photo

The centre consists of a hall, extension, entrance, kitchen and toilets with the building being on one ground floor level, with a gentle slope to the entrance. The main hall opens up to its own outside fenced area, part grass and part safety play surface. There is a car park immediately outside the centre with disabled parking.

The centre is run by a committee of volunteers who meet monthly. The hall is pleasantly decorated throughout with lots of natural light. The hall is used by Muscliff Community Playgroup everyday, with  Sugar Craft, Gardening, a band, Model Engineers Group, Pilates, Karate and Women’s Institute all holding regular groups.

Muscliff Community Centre is available to hire by the public through the Bookings Secretary, Kerrie, on 01202 249360 at a charge of £10 per hour.

Muscliff and Throop are situated just north of the main Castle Lane in Bournemouth. There are good local transport links to Castlepoint shopping centre, Royal Bournemouth Hospital, Littledown Leisure Centre and of course the main town centres of Bournemouth and Poole.

Muscliff and Throop are quiet, safe residential areas with lots of open spaces, green space and children’s play areas. In and close to the area you will find the following amenities:

Throop Post Office

James Fisher Medical Centre

Dental practice incorporating NHS and Private patients [situated above the Medical Centre]

Pharmacy across the path

Convenience Store nearby

2 Primary Schools – Epiphany CE [popular and high achieving Faith school] and Muscliff [popular and high achieving non-denominational school].  St Walburga’s RC Primary School [another popular and high achieving Faith school] is situated not far away

The main focal point of this area is probably the large open Muscliff Park, incorporating the Muscliff Community Centre and the Shack, with enclosed children’s play area, tennis courts and football and cricket pitches. The park is bordered by lots of trees providing shade for hot summer days, and has an arboretum containing well known and also specimen trees.  The area has many footpaths and bridleways to enable you to explore the beautiful neighbouring countryside and River Stour.  Historic Throop Mill on the River Stour is within walking or cycling distance from the area, offering breathtaking views over the river.

[TransDev] Yellow Bus No. 4b operates a ring route through Shillingstone Drive to Bournemouth Centre and Bournemouth Railway Station and Bus Station, at half hourly intervals and there is also a Shamrock Bus service along Broadway Lane which carries passengers to Bournemouth School for Girls and Bournemouth School for Boys. The 4b service also goes to and from Royal Bournemouth Hospital, the Littledown Centre, and stops outside the Nuffield Private Hospital on the way to and from the Railway Station.  Other buses including Wilts & Dorset operate along Castle Lane, stopping at Broadway Lane.  Local taxi companies also operate a pre-book service throughout the area.
